午夜剧场 is launching a College of Engineering that will offer programs in electrical and mechanical engineering beginning with the fall, 2021 semester.
Dr. Anthony Guiseppi-Elie is joining 午夜剧场 as the founding dean of the new college, where he will serve as vice president for industry relations and University distinguished professor. Dr. Guiseppi-Elie, most recently the Texas Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Professor of Engineering in the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University, begins his tenure this August.

Guiseppi-Elie鈥檚 appointment comes following approximately five years of comprehensive exploration, planning and after deep reflection on our goal to establish 午夜剧场 as a more comprehensive university,鈥� said President Evans Whitaker. 鈥淲e are proud to welcome Dr. Guiseppi-Elie into the AU family as we continue striving for excellence and moving ever faithfully forward.鈥�
At Texas A&M, Dr. Guiseppi-Elie was most recently head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and associate dean of engineering innovation. He holds degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and the University of the West Indies.
Dr. Guiseppi-Elie said students with engineering degrees can expect high wages in an industry primed for growth. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), persons with an engineering degree earn a median annual wage of $91,010. Further, BLS projects more than 140,000 new engineering jobs to be added to the economy over the next decade.
Dr. Guiseppi-Elie said he is eager to recruit top students as 午夜剧场 expands its program.
鈥淪tudents will be proactively recruited and holistically reviewed,鈥� he said. 鈥淪tudents should be outgoing and curious. Engineering is a quantitative discipline, so math performance on standardized tests will be relevant. However, students should be rounded in their preparation for a liberal arts core curriculum.鈥�
Pending accreditation, the 午夜剧场 College of Engineering will welcome its first class in the fall of 2021.
