Campus Life

Christian Life

The Office of Christian Life at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ cultivates a growing and enduring faith among students, faculty and staff through corporate worship, biblical discipleship, and missional living.

A faith that is healthy and strong involves both a journey inward and a journey outward. The inward journey often is called discipleship. Jesus said that the greatest command is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind†(Matthew 23:37). This implies a relationship with Christ, following him, and allowing his teaching to shape our worldview. This relationship with Christ is cultivated through personal prayer and Bible study, but it also is nurtured in Christian community. ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡ provides a number of ways in which seeds of faith are planted and nurtured in the lives of our students.

Campus Worship - Journey Program

The Journey Program is an opportunity to nurture spiritual development in community through the worship of God. Students, faculty, and staff gather each Wednesday and Friday at 10:10 am for Campus Worship. No classes are scheduled during this time as it is set apart for worship. As a graduation requirement, all traditional full-time students are required to earn a minimum of eight Journey credits for each semester in which they are enrolled full-time up to eight semesters. Requirements are pro-rated for transfer students, and exemptions granted to students who are unavailable in a semester due to university-approved educational opportunities (i.e. student teaching, study abroad, etc.). Students can check their attendance in the iAttended app.

Our speaker lineup is a blend of nationally recognized Christian leaders and our own AU faculty and staff. Furthermore, student vocalists and musicians enrolled in the Worship Leadership Program of the South Carolina School of the Arts offer their talents in leading worship, while also gaining valuable practical ministry experience. Through the AU Worship YouTube channel, all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of AU are blessed to be able to view each service online.

How to Track your Campus Worship Attendance

We use the iAttended App to track and record your Journey (Campus Worship) Credits. Journey is a graduation requirement. You need 8 credits per semester for a total of 64 in order to graduate.

  1. Download the iAttended app
  2. Register in the app using your AU email address and your legal name as it appears in Workday
  3. Enter the Chapel Code – A code is sent to all students every semester and you must enter the code to complete registration in the app
  4. Reserve your seat on the iAttended App – Events open on Monday for that week’s services. You must reserve your seat in either Henderson Auditorium or the Student Center Theater prior to the service

Procedures Related to Attendance and Obtaining Credit

  1. Students who have a reserved seat will scan a QR code on the way into the venue. At the end of the service a four digit code will be displayed on the screen and students will have one minute to text in the iAttended App to receive credit. You must make a reservation, have the entrance scan, and the code at the end of the service to receive credit.
  2. Bookbags are not be allowed in the auditorium and must be left in the lobby in designated areas. Also, there is no food or drink allowed in Henderson Auditorium.
  3. We request that you respect this time of worship as well as the musicians and speakers by not being on your phones, computers or other electronic devices during the service.
