Crowds donned their Black and Gold and came out Saturday, October 4 to enjoy tailgating in the stadium parking lot of Anderson���s Athletic Campus.��羔�Then fans gathered��病or��眩he Trojan Walk��眩o cheer on the AU Football Team arriving at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium on buses provided by Electric City Transport.���泭

At halftime, Ada Dooley was crowned Homecoming Queen and��浴’Andre Hicks��眨as crowned Homecoming��涔ing. Also honored were Emily Butts as Ms. Senior, Alex McCain as Mr. Senior; Abby Turlington as Ms. Junior, Weston Pack as Mr. Junior; Peyton O���Brien as Ms. Sophomore, Samuelan Faulkner, Mr. Sophomore; and Camryn Johnson as Ms. Freshman, Romante Adams, Mr. Freshman.泭

The Trojans soundly��留efeated UVA Wise on Spero Financial Field with the final score of 50-7 in a record-setting football game���the highest point total and marking a record-setting number of wins for this point in the season. 泭

In other Homecoming competition, the Women���s Volleyball Team defeated Carson Newman 25-17, 25-21 and 25-21.泭

Homecoming highlights included a faculty meet and greet outside Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium; also a reception honoring retiring Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management Pam Ross at the Merritt Administration Building. 泭

There were also performances of the South Carolina School of the Arts production of the musical ���The Prince of Egypt��� Friday and Saturday night, and also Sunday afternoon in the Henderson Auditorium.泭泭

Also on Saturday night was an Ivy Leaves Centennial Celebration Dinner and Reading at the G. Ross Anderson Student Center, celebrating a century of the student-produced publication. 泭

A week of Homecoming festivities for students included Fall Fest, Homecoming Dance, a movie night, a faculty vs. staff kickball game and a powderpuff football game. 泭

Despite weather-related delays, Homecoming 2024 was worth the wait.泭

This year���s Homecoming was especially unforgettable with the Trojan Football Team playing at home on Spero Financial Field at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium. Crowds donned their Black and Gold and came out Saturday to enjoy tailgating in the stadium parking lot.泭

Early in the afternoon Trojan fans gathered for the Trojan Walk to cheer on the arriving Football Team. This was the first–ever Trojan Walk to happen during Homecoming. At halftime, Emma Ruth Pederson was crowned Homecoming Queen and Ian Thomson was crowned Homecoming King. Also crowned were Mr. And Ms. Freshman, James Parson and Peyton O���Brien; Mr. And Ms. Sophomore, Weston Pack and Carlie Kneece; and Mr. And Ms. Junior, D���Andre Hicks and Leah Duncan. 泭

The Trojans fought well but Mars Hill prevailed, winning 31-16.泭泭

In another Homecoming competition, the Women���s Basketball Team played at Abney Gym, losing Friday to Flagler 83-71, but defeating Clayton State Saturday 66-63.泭

In Homecoming highlights, the Fun Zone moved this year to the Athletic Campus for the young and young-at-heart. In addition to performances from the South Carolina School of the Arts, there was a delicious Southern-style BBQ lunch and also, faculty reconnected with alumni during a meet-and-greet. The College of Health Professions hosted Teddy Gets a Checkup, where youngsters were given a small stuffed bear and learned some wellness fundamentals (with an emphasis on ���fun���). Homecoming participants made new memories taking selfies and photos at a beautiful photo backdrop that proclaims, ���Long Live Anderson.��� Also, AU’s Clay Collective had a variety of student-produced ceramic items for sale.

Homecoming and Family Weekend was preceded by a weeklong Homecoming celebration for students that included a huge Homecoming Dance, where students were eager to show their dance moves, a ���Battle of the Classes��� on the Athletic Campus Practice Field and a faculty vs. staff kickball game. There was also a chance to see stars of the silver screen during Outdoor Movie Night at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium.泭

敁珗曄部 alumni and their families joined in with current students and their families, along with faculty and staff for Homecoming and Family Week at 敁珗曄部.

On a beautiful, albeit unseasonably warm October day, record crowds came out to the 敁珗曄部 campus from near and far. It was a fun time for students showing their parents around campus and introducing them to their friends. It was a marvelous time for alumni to reconnect, reminisce and enjoy the many changes that have occurred since their days as students.

Of course, probably the biggest highlight of Homecoming festivities was the Trojans Football Team debut on the Spero Financial Field at the newly-expanded Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium. More than 5,500 Trojans fans filled the stadium for the team���s first-ever Black and Gold Football Scrimmage. The Homecoming Court was presented during halftime. 敁珗曄部���s First Lady Diane Whitaker crowned Madilyn McCown as Homecoming Queen and Grayson Smith was crowned Homecoming King. Leading up to that moment was the crowning of Hudson Taylor and Isabel Weddie as Mr. and Ms. Senior, Skylar and Emory Ford as Mr. and Ms. Junior, D���Andre Hicks and Ada Dooley as Mr. and Ms. Sophomore and Weston Pack and Paulina Chang as Mr. and Ms. Freshman.

In intercollegiate competition, the Men���s Soccer Team lost to the Wingate Bulldogs 2-1, the Women���s Soccer Team also lost to Wingate 2-0, and the Volleyball Team lost 3-1, also to WIngate. There was also a softball scrimmage versus Gaston泭 College.

The Quad was transformed into the ���Fun Zone,��� where youngsters could play in a variety of inflatables. There were also games for the young and young-at-heart, along with food and drink. Later in the day Homecoming crowds turned out for the BBQ picnic out on the campus. There was also a community health care, ceramics sale and a parent prayer walk. Homecoming participants made new memories taking selfies and photos at a beautiful photo backdrop that proclaims ���Long Live Anderson.���

Homecoming and Family Weekend were preceded by a weeklong Homecoming celebration for students, which included a HoCo Dance, Drive In Movie Night and Fall Fest.

Other Homecoming and Family Weekend activities included the South Carolina School of the Arts putting on a Hansel and Gretel workshop in Henderson Auditorium and a chance to see rehearsal for the upcoming production ���Frankenstein,��� in Belk Theatre. (���Frankenstein��� will run Nov. 3-11, 2023 in the Belk Theatre of the South Carolina School of the Arts at 敁珗曄部.)

Also, AUthenticity, 敁珗曄部���s commercial music ensemble, gave a concert of popular and contemporary Christian music. Thrift Library hosted a display highlighting well over a century of Anderson memories, including photos, yearbooks and other items from the university���s history.

Homecoming and Family Day is a time to celebrate Trojan traditions, with food, fellowship and fun as 敁珗曄部 welcomes alumni and their families, joining in with current students and their families, along with faculty and staff for a celebration of all things that make 敁珗曄部 special.

One is literally a ���kick-off��� as the Trojans Football Team debuts on the Spero Financial Field at Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium for its first-ever Black and Gold Football Scrimmage. Head Football Coach Bobby Lamb says they���ll be following a game format, with referees and everything. Put on your black and gold and come help fill the stadium. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.

Don���t forget the Homecoming soccer games, with the men���s and women���s teams taking on Wingate University. In support of the effort to keep our campus healthy and safe, today we���ve made the difficult decision to cancel Homecoming and Family Weekend 2020, originally scheduled for October 2-4.

In place of Homecoming and Family Weekend, 敁珗曄部 Student Activities will host  a series of several smaller, student-centric events to celebrate autumn at AU. Planning for those events are underway and will be announced as soon as possible.

A postponed commencement to honor the 敁珗曄部 Class of 2020 still is scheduled for Friday October 2.

We recognize cancelling Homecoming and Family Weekend will come as a disappointment to our many alumni, friends, neighbors, and students. However, as of today the University has experienced very low levels of infection on campus as a result of everyone���s dedicated adherence to our Journey Ahead protocols. While Homecoming and Family Weekend is an important part of our University���s traditions, we don���t want to risk our hard-fought success by bringing together large groups of people.

Remember: small sacrifices now keep us from having to make large sacrifices later.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we ask that you continue lifting 敁珗曄部 up in your prayers as we lean on God to guide us during the Journey Ahead.

敁珗曄部 is welcoming alumni and friends to its 2019 Homecoming and Family Weekend celebration from Friday, Oct. 18 through Sunday, Oct. 20. 

Homecoming and Family Weekend 2019 begins with the 10^thannual Alumni and Friends Golf Tournament beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18 at Cobbs Glen Country Club ahead of a home volleyball match; a gathering of the 敁珗曄部 Parents Association; and the Homecoming Dance. 

Fun Zone is the highlight of Saturday, Oct. 19, with live music, games, a BBQ lunch buffet, and other activities. Both soccer teams will play home games, and the women���s volleyball team will host an afternoon match followed by the 2019 Homecoming Court. Events conclude on Sunday, Oct. 20, with a campus worship service.
