Each year,ÌýTheatre and Dance studentsÌýin the South Carolina School of the Arts at ÎçÒ¹¾ç³¡Ìýenter an environment where they get to work with seasoned theatre professionals, including performers,ÌýdirectorsÌýand musical faculty from across the nation.ÌýEarlier this month, they traveled to theÌýRegion 4ÌýAmerican College Theatre Festival (ACTF)ÌýtoÌýattendÌýworkshops andÌýengageÌýin competition for scholarships with students from across the region.ÌýÌý
â€Àát’s a week where the theater students can be together, create together, learn from each other and learn from other creative artists in the theater,â€ÌýsaidÌýDepartmentÌýof Theatre and DanceÌýChairÌýDr.ÌýDavidÌýSollish. â€Àát’sÌýa beneficial addition to our year, because sometimes we can getÌýpretty focusedÌýon whatÌýwe’reÌýdoing here on campus. This is an opportunity toÌýget to knowÌýotherÌýpeople in the industryÌýand to see their work.â€Ìý

The awards were presented on the stage of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, which is consideredÌýone of the nation’s most prestigious regional theatre events.ÌýThe festival took placeÌýin Mongomery, Alabama.Ìý
